We added a picture of Jon's hand to the bottom of the Interview post.

Here is a picture of Karin sleeping on our way back from Columbia this morning. :)

Chapel is quite a bit taller than Karin.

Jon's Interview

Jon had an interview at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine yesterday. Karin and I went with him and stayed with some friends while he interviewed. We got down there around 9 am yesterday morning. Jon dropped Karin and me off at our friends' house and then went to meet a doctor who is trying to help him get into USC. After talking with him, Jon went to see his friend Josh. He had only been there a few minutes when Josh's sister got home and decided to bring their dogs inside. She thought they would just follow her up to her room. Well, as soon as the first 2 dogs saw Jon, they ran and started licking him. Jon was petting them when the 3rd dog came in and ran over, biting Jon on the hand in the process. Well, Josh's sister is a nurse, so she went and bought some bandages and cleaned and wrapped up his thumb right away. This was at 10:30...with the interview at noon. Jon thought he might need some stitches, but didn't have time to get it taken care of then.

His interview went really well, and he didn't have much pain at all with his thumb. One of his interviewers was Dr. Stallworth who is a pretty big influence down there. The other interviewer was a student who is on the admissions committee. It's hard to gauge how well interviews go, but Jon thought that things went pretty well. Now we just have to wait and see....

Jon got back to where I was around 4pm. We knew he needed stitches, but weren't real thrilled about paying a lot of money to go to the emergency room or an urgent care office (especially when we found out the pricing ranged from $70-$500). I suggested calling the doctor he had seen that morning to see if he had any suggestions. We finally got through to him around 5:15 and he said that he would look at it. Praise the Lord! The doctor put 3 stitches in it...it could have used more, but he didn't want it to be closed too tightly in case an infection developed--very common in animal wounds.

We praise the Lord for His guidance and provision for us!

For those of you who want to see, here is what Jon's hand looks like.

What happens when you let go of Daddy's hand...

Trying to get around the swing

Karin walked from one end of the couch down to her swing. She was trying to squeeze in between the swing and the couch, but lost her balance here. :)

Jon's interview

Jon has an interview scheduled for this Wednesday at USC in Columbia. Please pray that Jon will enjoy himself and have the wisdom to know how to answer the questions presented. Please also pray tha he will be able to establish good rapport with those interviewing him. We are praying that he will be accepted there, if that is the Lord's will.
I will be staying with some friends (the Farris family we met in the NICU) during the day and we'll probably spend the night there and then come back on Thursday morning. We are looking forward to seeing them again and watching the girls play together. We'll be sure to take pictures and post them when we get back.

Our little munchkin

Karin has really started getting around a lot more now. She will flop to her belly from a sitting position to go after a toy or to come get one of us. She doesn't really crawl, just scoots on her belly or rear. :) She is starting to get into more and more things on her level. :)

She is such a happy baby, even when she doesn't feel well. She has really been struggling with another ear infection since we got back from Christmas vacation. It started out in the one ear and after her medicine, it had spread to the other ear. She really doesn't have an appetite, but other than being clingy, still plays quite well. What a blessing she is! Please pray that the infection will clear up and that she'll start eating again.

She'll be 10 months old this week! How time flies!

Here she is standing in the toy box Jon is making her for her birthday.

She was playing in the hamper while I was doing laundry yesterday. :)

Our little bit of snow

Yes, everyone in Greenville and Spartanburg went crazy when the forecast called for 1-3 inches of snow...and school was cancelled. :) Here are some pictures outside our house of what we got.

Our Little Monkey

Karin was holding onto the chair all by herself.

"I'm crazy!"

Karin can get off her Pooh rocker all by herself now.

Her hair is growing...nice mohawk! :)

There was some confusion about whose drinking glass it was...

Karin now pulls herself up on the coffee table and the couch. She also walked all the way around her entertainer by herself last night. She is always on the go! :) She cut her 7th tooth on Sunday!

Our snowy car

This is what our car looked like after our trip home yesterday. It was pretty gross! I wouldn't go to the grocery store until we got it washed. :)

Niagara Falls

We went to see Garth and Becky this past weekend on our way home from Pennsylvania. We went to see Niagara Falls on Monday morning. It was really cold and windy, so we didn't stay long, but it was neat to see.

Here is Karin all bundled up.
